Romelia - Fond Memories

The young female stands alone. Dusty shelves and creaky floorboards are her only companions, along with a single photograph. She'd come across this photo while rummaging through the back room. Though coated in grime, she recognized the smiling faces on it at once. Snatching it up, she did her best to polish the surface clean of dirt, and then sat it upon the nearest shelf for closer examination. Several minutes passed, and she was still standing there, staring at the photo.
Her eyes lingered on her own face, grinning at the camera in delight of the fact that she was at the first (and only) party she'd ever been invited to. And a Halloween one, at that. Her favorite holiday! And it was only made better by that fact that she was standing there with her best friend in the entire world, Bonnie Barnes.

They'd chosen to go in two of the most common best friend costumes ever: Mario and Luigi. Though it wouldn't have been her first(or second) choice of costume, she would do it for Bonnie, and again, she was just glad to be invited to a costume party, despite having spent most of her night sitting awkwardly next to Bonnie while she chatted away to others. 
The two of them insisted they weren't thirsty, but eventually a cup of "just soda" ended up in Bonnie's hand, and her's as well. And another, and another. They'd both walked home completely wasted that night, stumbling all over the sidewalk and giggling at nothing. Her favorite part of the night, however, was what occurred after she and Bonnie said their goodbyes for the night.
On the walk home, a lone stranger standing across the road had been bold enough to cat-call to her. With one sweet smile and a beckoning wave, the man was following her home. She decided no one would miss someone like him.
At last, she'd reached the comforting sight of her dingy little house, managing to keep the man following along. With three loud knocks, the door swung slowly open moments later, revealing complete darkness inside. She knew her father was lurking in the darkness nearby. 
With one last glance back at the man, she gently pulled him in the door. As it swung shut behind him, and there was a sickening crunch, and then a loud thud. Her father flipped the light switch, revealing her mother standing over the man, holding a bloodied frying pan. The three of them exchanged triumphant smiles, and then settled into their routine process. She and her mother waited in the living room as her father dragged the man down into the basement. Her mother made small talk about the party, and upon realizing Romelia was drunk, scolded her severely. She went to bed that night without dessert, which caused her to pout for the next several days. After all, she had caught the dessert herself!

Ah, the fond memories. A small smile graced her features, but was replaced by a deep frown as a single tear rolled down her cheek. She wiped it away angrily, smudging her makeup in the process. Of course she missed the way things were before. But the past was in the past, and crying over it would not make her human again. It wouldn't take her parents off the FBI's most wanted list. And it wouldn't change her old friend's hatred and fear of her.
And so, she decided she would not cry over this anymore. Snatching the picture up, she stuffed it down in the side of her boot for safe-keeping, and stomped back down into the shadows of the cellar...

So I was listening to some emotional music, and I thought of this! I always imagined Romelia as still missing her life as a human, but bitter about it because she knows she will never have that again. 
But UGH those inconsistant drawing styles though. XD However, I enjoyed drawing this. I love drawing human Romelia and Bonnie. I should do that more.
